Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky offered his condolences to the relatives of the civilians killed in the Russian missile strikes in the eastern city of Slavyansk yesterday, DPA reported.

There is “not a single hour without Russian murders and terror. This is an evil state and it will lose. To win is our duty to humanity. And we will win!” Zelensky said in his traditional evening video address.

According to the latest data from the authorities, 9 civilians, including a two-year-old child, were killed and 21 wounded, Reuters reported.

Donetsk Oblast Governor Pavlo Kirilenko said seven S-300 missiles fell in Slavyansk.

This city and nearby Kramatorsk, the administrative center of the Kiev-controlled part of Donetsk Oblast, are about fifty kilometers from Bakhmut. Russia has been trying for months to capture this Ukrainian city, which has become the scene of the bloodiest fighting since the war began more than a year ago.

According to estimates by British military intelligence, Ukrainian defenders still hold the western part of Bakhmut, but the area has been subjected to “extremely heavy Russian artillery shelling” for the past 48 hours, DPA noted.
