Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves Secure NBA Playoff Qualification

The Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves were the last two franchises to qualify for the North American Basketball League (NBA) playoffs on Friday night. At home, in the final round of the play-offs, Miami beat the Chicago Bulls 102-91 and the Minnesota Timberwolves outscored the Oklahoma City Thunder 120-95.

Once again carried by their defense and in particular by Rudy Gobert who was making his return after his suspension match last Tuesday against the Lakers, the Wolves had no trouble getting the best of a too messy Thunder team. In this catch-up session to join the play-offs, a few days after coming close to eliminating the Lakers in the first round of the play-in, the teammates of a still very good Karl-Anthony Towns (28 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks), quickly took the lead in this match.

Increasing their margin in the score as the meeting progressed, it was in the 3rd quarter that the Wolves took off against a team from Oklahoma which had long seemed without a solution. Rudy Gobert, who played 33 minutes, finished the game with 21 points and 10 rebounds. After this victory which allows them to join the play-offs in extremis, the Wolves will find Denver for game 1 this Sunday.
