Two suspects implicated in massacre arrested in the US

CDMX.- Two suspects involved in the massacre of several family members LeBarón in Mexico were apprehended in U.S, a relative of the deceased said Thursday.

Adrián LeBarón confirmed to THE UNIVERSAL that the arrests were made in the neighboring country, although he warned that it is still investigated whether the detainees had a real participation in the events of last year.

“Yes, two are being detained and somehow they are linking them, but it does not necessarily mean that they are involved, this situation is going to be long because even I believe that they will continue to take root,” Adrián LeBarón.

He explained that the two detainees were captured by immigration agents and subsequently had them under their control by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE), and now it is the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who has access to them.

In November, three women and six children from a Mexican-American Mormon brotherhood were attacked in the state Sonora while traveling to U.S.

The episode, which generated outrage in the country and abroad, led the president Donald Trump to consider the possibility of designating Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

“He told us that there were two detainees in U.S“he assured Adrián LeBarón upon leaving a meeting with the US ambassador to Mexico, Christopher Landau.

“They are investigating and that goes ahead,” he added. “They also told us that this case is something very important for the president Donald Trump and for all his administration. “

The Mexican prosecutor’s office reported last week that seven suspects were arrested in the Latin American country for their relationship with the massacre, including a local police chief.

Next week, Mexican authorities will meet with the attorney general of United States, William Barr, to review security issues.
