[11日 ロイター] – On the 11th, Twitter in the United States temporarily suspended registration for its new “Twitter Blue” service, which provides a paid “authenticated badge” that indicates that the account belongs to the user. This is due to the rapid increase in fake accounts. Meanwhile, some accounts have reverted to the “official” label, which was just retired the other day.

Previously, verified badges were only granted to celebrity accounts such as politicians and celebrities, but a new service introduced this week will allow ordinary users to get badges for $8.

Several users reported on Tuesday that the option to sign up for the service had disappeared. A person with knowledge of the matter told Reuters that the new service has been suspended.

Reuters reached out to Twitter for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

“We’ve added the ‘Official’ label to some accounts to combat impersonation,” Twitter said. The official tag was introduced on Tuesday, but Musk pulled it hours later.
