TV Gossau: Sport Fit teams 40+ & 55+ ready for Balgach

Recently, the two Sport Fit teams 40+ and 55+ of the Gossau gymnastics club had to undergo a location assessment. Full of anticipation, the 20 gymnasts traveled with a judge and a number of fans to the Sport Fit Day in Kirchberg SG to test whether they were ready for the Rheintal Gymnastics Festival in Balgach.

After the meeting at 8:00 a.m., a tour of the competition facilities and a thorough warm-up, the floorball course could begin. This discipline went well for the 3 teams 40+ and with the second discipline (8-ball), which was excellently completed by both teams, they achieved 4th place (31 teams) despite a grade of 10 (highest grade). The 55+ team also did well and achieved a good 8th place (13 teams) with a grade of 9.58. Football baton and board ball were the next tasks. With a final score of 9.55, the 40+ team excelled with an excellent 3rd place (32 teams) and the 55+ team achieved a good 7th place with a score of 9.48 (13 teams). As the last part, only the street racket and foam rubber gymnastics stick disciplines had to be completed. These did not go according to plan in the 40+ team and so they had to settle for 9th place (29 teams). However, the 55+ team also showed a solid performance in the 3rd competition and was able to take 7th place (12 teams).

Shortly before noon, a team of four participants took part in the Mini Gigathlon. This consisted of the parts: jogging, obstacle course, biking and sack race. The sack race had to be completed by all four together in one sack. Unfortunately, the biker broke down and the team had to settle for 18th place out of 25 teams.

After it was pleasantly fresh in the morning, it got warmer and warmer over the course of the day and so the competition day could end in the best weather. The very last part of the competition day was held in the tent with gymnastics music and ended around midnight.

The 40+ team can confidently travel to Balgach “with upward potential” and improve their results there.
