For the manufacturer of Remdesivir, this price, set for “all governments in developed countries around the world where Remdesivir is approved or authorized for use”, will “ensure broad and equitable access” to treatment.
Savings of $ 12,000 per patient
Remdesivir is able to “provide immediate net savings to health systems” in the countries where it will be delivered, the letter said. Thus, according to the first results of the study by the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, to which the document refers, hospitalized patients Covid-19 and treated with Remdesivir recovered on average four days faster than other patients, thanks to which the amount to be spent for these four days of hospitalization can be saved.
