This is the Chronology of Nurse Abuse at Siloam Hospital Palembang by Patient Families

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Christina Ramauli Simatupang (28), a nurse at the hospital Siloam Sriwijaya, Palembang, did not expect to experience abuse while carrying out its duties to treat patients on Thursday (15/4/2021) afternoon.

From a number of sources, the chronology of the persecution against Christina began at around 10.00 – 11.00 WIB, when she was about to remove the patient’s infusion because she had already been allowed to go home. The patient referred to is the child of the perpetrator who is two years old.

According to the Nursing Development & Clinical Operations Division Head of Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital, Benedikta Betty Bawaningtyas, the release of the infusion was in accordance with the procedure, namely using an alcohol cotton swab and then plastered. However, perhaps because the patient was two years old and very active, the infusion was bleeding because the plaster had come off.

This made the patient’s mother panic and scream. The nurse immediately responded by treating the patient with a cotton swab.

However, it seems that the patient’s mother did not accept the incident and complained to her husband (the patient’s father). Arriving at the hospital about two hours after the incident, the father immediately looked for a nurse who handled his child. Accompanied by the head of the room, Christina came to the patient room intending to explain the problem of the incident that occurred.

Having not had time to give an explanation, the perpetrator immediately acted violently by slapping the victim with a fist, so that the victim fell to the floor. The perpetrator asked the victim to apologize by kneeling on the floor.

Not only that, the perpetrator also kicked and grabbed the victim’s hair, even though the head of the treatment room prevented him.

Due to this incident, Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital knocked hard on the abuse committed against its nurse, and reported it to the Police. Not only that, the nursing community also strongly condemned and asked the perpetrators to be punished as severely as possible. The persecution is considered to have threatened the safety of medical personnel.
