Latin music lost one of its most beloved voices this Sunday. Mexican Vicente Fernández died at the age of 81 after a fall in August caused enough damage to make him immobile.

The Aztec’s health faded and with him the sensation that a reference of the Mexican ranchera was about to leave.

Despite his death, the world of music remembered this Sunday the Charro de Huentintán as an idol, an irreplaceable voice and a man whose legacy transcends beyond his native Mexico.

Celebrities of the stature of Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan and Ricardo Montaner expressed their pain on social networks while offering their support to Vicente Fernández’s family.

Juanes

“One of the greatest idols of Latin music is leaving, His voice will always resound in the bars of my soul.”

Ricky Martin

“I am heartbroken. Don Chente with me was an angel all his life. He loved me very much and I loved him. Whenever he went to Guadalajara he would come to my concerts and the only thing that comforts my soul, at this moment, is that every time we saw each other I would tell him how important he was to me ”.

Ricardo Montaner

“Don Vicente Fernández has left for eternity, his infinite legacy will continue to ring in the hearts of millions.”

Alejandro Sanz

“Sad day, without words. The history of Mexican music will always carry your name Vicente, friend, you are and will be THE KING forever. Your legacy will be history. My hug to all of you. Rest in peace”.

Marc Anthony

“I will always remember you legend, thank you for the incredible legacy you have left. Rest in peace”.

Luis Fonsi

“There are days when the light shines a little less because a star leaves us. It has been a pleasure to share time, life and history with one of the greatest legends that music has known. Have a good trip Vicente Fernández. Rest in peace”.

Gloria Estefan

“Today is a difficult and painful day for the world of music with the loss of a Mexican titan who, for decades, carried his roots and culture in style throughout the world. Don Vicente Fernández leaves us a legacy of songs, films and new generations that will continue his musical mission and will raise his name with each note they sing ”.
