They reveal new secrets of Diana – Curious

Diana’s wedding dress, adorned with pearls, sequins and vintage lace, is at the center of an exhibition in London, which opens at Kensington Palace, where the late princess lived. It is displayed in a way that will show its 7.62-meter train, the longest ever used for a royal wedding.

When the future princess looked for them, designers Elizabeth and David Emmanuel, who are just beginning to become famous, immediately realized that “this is one of those strange moments when you realize that your life will no longer be the same,” they say in video shown in the exhibition.

Diana’s train crumpled as she disembarked from the carriage in front of St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1981. Fortunately, the stylists are nearby and fix it right away.

“It’s proof that anything can be predicted, but something will always happen at Diana’s wedding,” said exhibition curator Matthew Story, who recalled that “the dress was too big for such a small stroller.”

The exhibition shows the evolution in the style of Diana – from her girlish staggers to elegant and message-bearing clothes. Lady Dee gives a lot of freedom to the designers of her wedding dress, but archival documents show that she also participated in the creation of the model. In the video, designer David Sasson, who is very close to Diana, says she was “very shy” when they first met, but later took an active part “in choosing what she wanted.”

“She understood that the public expected her to see her clothes,” said the British designer, adding that the princess “liked to break the rules” by often not wearing gloves or hats in violation of royal protocol.

Some of her clothes, including the wedding dress, were donated to the exhibition by her sons, Princes William and Harry, who recently spoke openly about the suffering of her loss. On July 1 this year, Diana would have turned 60 years old.

The exhibition also presents the long-term work of designer Norman Hartnell for the Queen Mother and for the British Queen Elizabeth II.
