Italy this Saturday has exceeded 1,000 infections in one day: 1,071, for the 947 registered on Friday, which brings the total of cases to 258,136 throughout the country with the Lazio region at historical highs, registering 215 infections in the last 24 hours.
This number of cases is the highest registered in the country since last May 12 (1,402 infections).
On a positive note this Saturday, only three deaths have been registered compared to the nine on Friday, so the total death toll now stands at 35,430.
The total of active cases, that is, discounting registrations and deaths, is 17,503. A total of 924 people are hospitalized, while the number of patients in intensive care is 64, five less than yesterday.
The total number of recovered is 205,203, according to the balance provided by Civil Protection.
Lombardy continues to be the most affected region with 98,077 cases and 16,852 deaths, followed by Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna.
