On the other hand, the Ministry of Culture presented a report in accordance with an investigation by the National Administrative Department of Statistics, in which it is mentioned that arts and entertainment activities contributed significantly to growth in the country’s economy in the second quarter of 2021.

Angélica Mayolo Obregón, Minister of Culture, highlighted the drive of artists, cultural managers and other actors in the sector who have worked tirelessly to overcome the adversities that the pandemic brought. “We also thank the public that has been very receptive and has participated in the events that we are progressing little by little, guaranteeing all the biosafety measures. The cultural sector is not only an engine of the economy but also a social reactivator for the country ”.

Likewise, Minister Angélica Mayolo explained that the ‘Culture in Movement’ strategy, where 45,000 million pesos have been allocated to reactivate the cultural sector, through support for the circulation of the arts and the delivery of economic incentives for artists, groups and young people in all regions of the country.

The Free Theater of Chapinero opens its doors

On this occasion, Rojas gives life to Judith, an older woman, paisa, of popular origin, housewife, wife of a bus driver with a fifth grade of academic grade, who is obliged to give a lecture on the subject of female pleasure, although she is not the best person to do it. That’s why she goes to her best friend, who will get her out of trouble. The premiere season runs through September 4.

The “Complaint Cycle” continues at the Factory

Indian is the new creation of the Reyes Díaz Flamenco dance company, which uses the expressive power of flamenco to convey emotions connected to the undeniable realities of our national scene. Thus, the work tells a life story crossed by injustice and hopelessness. On stage, six young dancers, under the direction of Silvana Reyes, provide an experience of tension and reflection driven by the Andalusian rhythm and various world music, which will be in season from Thursday to Saturday, until August 28, at La Factoría Tino Fernández, as part of the “Complaint Cycle”.

Theater in unconventional space

Yours is my heart It is the third creation of La Guache Teatro, a hagiography of Lilith (story of the life of a saint), a young woman predestined by divine designs, who was born and lives in a shack on the outskirts of Bogotá. Driven by the premise “He who wants to can”, he seeks to fulfill his destiny, but his violent family, his impoverished environment and his particular conditions will be his main obstacles. This piece mixes dramatic and post-dramatic languages ​​with digital projections, radio broadcasts, object animation, among other narrative elements, and will be in season on Wednesdays and Thursdays, until September 2, at El Boogaloop del Gato.

Calls to continue with the reactivation of the culture sector

Currently, the Ministry of Culture has two calls open. The first is ‘Youth on the Move’. In it, young people between 18 and 28 years old who are part of an artistic collective will be able to apply. They will receive between $ 5 and $ 20 million to promote their cultural project. Enter here to consult the call.

“We know that the culture sector has been hard hit by the pandemic and that is why we want to support those who present proposals that promote cultural exercise, reactivation and the generation of opportunities for the sector. This helps us to recover employment, close social gaps and contribute to the country’s economy ”, explained the Minister of Culture.

The second call is ‘Share what we are’, where economic incentives of up to $ 20 million will be delivered to strengthen cultural projects, especially, from indigenous peoples, black, Afro-Colombian, Raizales and Palenqueras communities, among others.
