The EU issued the warning after Twitter on Thursday suspended the accounts of several journalists who had written about the company and Musk.
“News about an arbitrary reporter [kontu] suspensions on Twitter are alarming. EU law on digital services requires respect for media freedom and fundamental rights. This is confirmed by our law on media freedom,” said European Commission Vice-President Vera Jurova.
“Elon Musk should be aware of that. There are red lines,” Yurova stressed, adding that sanctions could soon follow.
