The temperature is as hot as hell, this is the sharpest and most beautiful appearance of the solar corona

WAHANA Probe Solar Orbiter managed to record and take sharpest pictures of Corona Sun or layers of the Sun’s atmosphere. Since launching in February 2020, the Solar Orbiter spacecraft has been aiming at the Sun with a series of instruments designed to reveal some of its secrets.

Among these are advanced ultraviolet imagers, which are now used by mission control to capture the highest resolution images of the Sun’s outer atmosphere (Corona). Quoted from the NewAtlas page, Friday (3/25/2022), new, highly detailed images were captured by NASA’s Extreme Ultraviolet Imager and ESA’s Solar Orbiter.

The apparatus shoots at the wavelengths needed to describe the Sun’s outer atmosphere. For your information, the temperature of the Sun’s atmospheric layer or the Sun’s Corona, reaches about 1 million degrees Celsius or 1.8 million degrees Fahrenheit!

The Probe Solar Orbiter spacecraft took this photo from about 75 million km from the Sun on March 7, 2022. The Solar Orbiter Probe, when capturing this sharp photo, took 25 individual images over four hours to create the final mosaic.

The resulting image displays over 83 million pixels in a 9,148 x 9,112 pixel grid, which is about 10 times the resolution of a 4K TV. At the same time, the Spectral Imaging of the Coronal Environment (SPICE) probe was used to image the Sun in the wavelengths of ultraviolet light emitted by different atoms.

This allows it to peer under the corona and measure the temperature of the Sun in the layer known as the chromosphere. The purple part represents hydrogen gas at 10,000 degrees Celsius, the blue color represents carbon at 32,000 degrees Celsius, the green color represents oxygen at 320,000 degrees Celsius, and the yellow color represents neon gas at 630,000 degrees Celsius.

This information will help scientists understand how the temperature rises through the layers of the Sun’s atmosphere, which is oppositely much higher in the corona than at the surface at about 5,000 degrees Celsius. For us of course imagine how powerful the energy and heat of the Sun.
