The Samsung Galaxy A will update for longer: only some

Samsung announced something in the Unpacked 2020 that surprised everyone. The company confirmed that its flagship devices launched with Android 9 Pie would receive 3 years of updates of the system. Today a new report talks about the possibility of seeing these 3 years of updates also on mobile phones of the Samsung Galaxy A series. The bad news is that it will not be all Series A those who upgrade for 3 years. Samsung could select only a few and they would be the least sold, those that can be considered ‘high-end’.

These Samsung Galaxy A phones will update for 3 years

Until now all Samsung devices were under the promise of 2 years of system updates. It’s only been a few days since Samsung extended up to 3 years updates for its high-end terminals. These mobiles with a 3-year warranty were the Galaxy S10, Note 10, Note 20 e incluso los Galaxy S9.

The good news extends to Samsung’s mid-series with the Galaxy A. Some of the top models in this series would also be within 3 years of updates. Of course, as long as they have been launched with Android 9 Pie or higher. What models are included? These are some of the likely ones:

  • Samsung Galaxy A90
  • Samsung Galaxy A80
  • Samsung Galaxy A71 5G

They are not officially confirmed and the list could be slightly longer, although to confirm it will have to wait. It is great news that Samsung updates its devices for a longer time, although we would also like to see terminals such as Galaxy A40 or A50. The latter are the company’s best-selling mobiles, so millions of people would benefit from these 3 years of Android updates.

What do you think of this new Samsung measure? Do you think there will be more devices with 3 years of updates?
