Number of corona infections in Terschelling rises to 9 | Inland

This increases the total number of infections to nine. The Frisian GGD announced this on Thursday after the first day at a test location. On Friday, more people can have themselves tested at the church in the village of Midsland. On the first day of testing, so many people wanted to be tested that the location stayed open longer. About 60 people who were tested by the end will hear the results on Friday.

Two young people from the Kennemerland region (Haarlem and surroundings) appeared to have contracted the corona virus after a holiday at Appelhof. On Wednesday, four of their tent mates were also tested positive, as were two other camping guests. It is not known where they come from. It is also not known whether the young people on the campsite became infected or were already sick and perhaps infected others. All young people who have been to Appelhof in the past period have received a message that they should have themselves tested if they have mild complaints.

Separate transport to mainland

Appelhofgoers who have the coronavirus among their members are transported separately to the mainland “in a responsible manner”. The GGD does not say exactly how that works. According to the GGD, anyone who has no complaints does not need to be tested and can continue the holiday.

Appelhof is one of the most popular youth campsites in the Netherlands. The site will close for the last weeks of the summer season. New guests are no longer admitted and, according to the municipality, the number of guests there is “gradually reduced.”
