Washington. Ronald Reagan was a Hollywood actor before moving into the White House. Jesse Ventura worked as a wrestler before becoming governor of Minnesota. Arnold Schwarzenegger was a bodybuilder and actor before rising to governor of California. The list of lateral entrants and exotics from show business drawn into politics in America is long.
Where: After the wild four years with the former reality TV star Donald Trump one had the impression that the USA had been cured of the quirk of giving figures who were as far away from politics as possible a chance in the highest offices. Fallacy?

US stars are drawn into politics
Caitlyn Jenner, the 1976 Olympic decathlon gold medalist Bruce Jenner, and notorious celebrity as a member of the Kardashian clan, has just submitted her application for a possible new governor in California.
In Texas, Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club”) is warming up to the 2022 governor in the “Lone Star State”. And to top it off, “The Rock”, real name Dwayne Johnson, has once again shown its interest in the president’s post.
The shaven muscle man who made the leap from wrestling to the cinema business (“Jumanji”, “Fast & Furios” etc.) and earned millions there, said he would do anything to unite the polarized country. If “the people” wanted that, the 48-year-old, who is followed by around 230 million people on Instagram, would compete.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wants to become US President
And do people want? A recent poll by “Piplsay” revealed an astonishing value: 46 percent support his candidacy. The reactions in Texas were similarly positive. A poll of the “Dallas Morning News” sees the father of three at 45 percent. Greg Abbott, the incumbent quasi-prime minister, comes to 33 percent.
McConaughey and Johnson, it is noticeable, have not docked their thought games anywhere in party politics. It is unknown whether they would run under the Republican or Democratic flag. Both of them are known to attribute integrative abilities to each other and to regard established politics as – to quote McConaughey – “broken business”.
Caitlyn Jenner wants to run for the Democrats
Caitlyn Jenner’s plans have come the furthest. The 71-year-old competes in the event that incumbent Gavin Newsom falls. The Republicans want to force the Democrats into an early election because of his Corona policy. In this way, Schwarzenegger moved into the Governor’s Palace in Sacramento in 2003.
Many in the LGBT community of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender find it strange that Jenner, who was last married to the top mother of the Kardashian clan, is entering the race on a conservative ticket. Republicans legislate on making life difficult for trans people.
Jenner has therefore distanced himself from Donald Trump. Which did not prevent her from hiring his bad repute former campaign strategist Brad Parscale for her campaign.
Kardashians: Jenner is “Unqualified Novice”
What does it have to offer anyway? So far (apart from her celebrity status) little. On your website calls for donations can be found. Otherwise there are the usual platitudes: that it is a “now-or-never” situation “to fundamentally repair our state before it is too late”, that only a “proven winner” does this task against the “established politicians ”Can master. How California, the sixth largest economy in the world with 40 million inhabitants, is supposed to deal with the big questions from post-corona reconstruction to climate protection – nonexistent. The largest newspaper in the “Golden State”, the Los Angeles Times, gave a harsh judgment on Jenner’s personnel: “Obviously unqualified novice” – please don’t.
