During a pandemic like today, it’s not just the Covid-19 immunization that’s the main thing.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLO – The Directorate General of Public Health, Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) intensifies promotive and preventive activities in the transformation of primary services. Including, educating and promoting health to the public.

The Director General of Public Health of the Indonesian Ministry of Health Kartini said the primary service transformation program is one of the six main pillars of national health transformation. The other five main pillars are the transformation of referral services, health resilience, health financing, health human resources (HR) and health technology.

According to Kartini, the transformation effort in primary services is targeting the community education work program to be aware from an early age in maintaining health. He emphasized that during a pandemic like today, it is not only Covid-19 immunization that is the main thing.

“Immunization is not only Covid-19, but also basic immunization, balanced nutrition, adequate exercise, the dangers of smoking and so on,” he said while attending the Public Health Development Expose in Solo, Central Java, Thursday (9/12) night.

In addition, he continued, there is also a secondary event prevention program with early detection of disease, prevention of maternal and infant mortality. He continued to remind pregnant women to always be screened to see their health and that of the fetus.

Next is the increase in the capacity and capability of primary services. One thing that must be strengthened is human resources (HR) to funding. “Primary services must be strengthened so that fewer people are referred to hospitals. So that expensive costs can be reduced,” he said.

Kartini added that the transformation of the six health services was initiated by the Indonesian Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, as a follow-up to the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, which teaches people to live a healthier life.

“The dynamic Covid-19 problem has an impact on basic services, such as posyandu, immunization, because everyone is afraid of getting infected. Some human resources are infected, PPKM also limits visits,” he said.

Currently, his party continues to encourage manufacturers to compete in technology development, antiviral drugs to behavior change.
