The Orion spacecraft captures unique photos of the Moon

SLS took Orion into space.

The “Artemis I” mission should last 25 and a half days, and on December 11 “Orion” will return to Earth, landing in the Pacific Ocean.

“Orion” flies with three mannequins equipped with thousands of sensors that will provide an idea of the environment and its suitability for humans. These sensors detect radiation, motion and other factors that will be essential in manned flights.

After more than a decade of SLS development, NASA is hoping for a successful mission. NASA will have invested more than US$90 billion in its new lunar program by 2025.

As part of the ‘Artemis 2’ mission in 2024, the spacecraft is expected to fly to the Moon with astronauts, while the ‘Artemis 3’ mission will take an astronaut to the Moon.

The flight of “Orion” is closely monitored by the European Space Agency, which participated in the construction of “Orion”.

The European Space Agency also has its own passenger in this spaceship: the character from British animated films Sean the goat, who is tied up during the journey. NASA’s mascot is the cartoon character Snoopy, floating freely in a space capsule.
