The mayor of New York arrives in the Dominican to assess the damage of Fiona – NBC4 New York

NEW YORK – The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, is in the Dominican Republic to learn about the damage caused by Hurricane Fiona, which hit the country a week ago, mainly the eastern and northeastern areas, and to determine the type of help that will be provided.

The information was offered this Monday by the Dominican Presidency in a note, in which it is specified that Adams and the commission that accompanies him, including the deputy of Dominican origin Adriano Espaillat, met the president, Luis Abinader.

The delegation will travel this Monday to the provinces of La Romana and La Altagracia in the east, where New York doctors from Grupo Somos build and repair homes, as well as provide assistance to victims, the statement added.

The hurricane, which landed in La Altagracia last Monday, caused at least two deaths, hit more than 8,000 homes and forced the displacement of 43,500 people.
