The Loss of Christina: Reflecting on the impact of her music and the future of Fleetwood Mac

“When Christina died, I felt like she couldn’t be replaced. She just couldn’t,” Nix said.

“She was like my soulmate, my musical soulmate and my best friend, who I spent more time with than any of my friends outside of Fleetwood Mac,” the musician explained.

“When she died, I realized we can’t go on like this. There’s no reason to do this anymore,” Nyx admitted.

“And her songs… all these songs should be abandoned,” continued the musician.

“Christina was a pop star. She wrote all these colossal pop hits. None of the rest of us could have written those songs,” Nicks said.

“It would happen that we would have to give up those songs, like we did when she retired from playing with the band for 18 years. We couldn’t play those songs. So we became more of a hard rock band,” explained the musician.

Kristina McVie passed away on November 30 last year.

She is the author of Fleetwood Mac’s extensive song catalogue, including hits such as ‘Everywhere’, ‘Little Lies’ and ‘Songbird’.
