The LGTBIQ+ Film Festival of Fuerteventura receives an Arkoiris Canarias Award

The ALTIHAY Fuerteventura and Cabildo de Fuerteventura LGTBIQ+ Film Festival has been awarded in the ‘Cinema Festival’ category of the Arkoiris Canarias Awards. This is the first edition of these awards, with a jury made up of journalists from the Canarian media and artistic agents.

The president of ALTIHAY Fuerteventura, Desirée Chacón Ríos, and the association’s treasurer, Paco Quintana, collected the award this Wednesday, June 1, at the La Quinta cultural venue. All this, within the framework of the celebration of Gáldar Pride 2022.

Desirée Chacón dedicated the award “to the partners of ALTIHAY Fuerteventura who for twenty years have opted to be visible and brave in Fuerteventura”. “Diversity has come to stay and is the new reality.”

Both ALTIHAY Fuerteventura, the president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret López, and the Ministry of Culture, directed by Rayco León, are grateful for the prize awarded to a cultural initiative that celebrates twenty years and has established itself as one of the most outstanding events in Majorera’s cultural agenda related to the world of cinema.

Likewise, they invite the entire population to attend as a public the next LGTBI + Film Festival of Fuerteventura, whose twentieth edition will be held from December 13 to 17, 2022 under the title ‘Pride, Rights and Memory’.

The event will be held in the Insular Auditorium of Fuerteventura and will feature a discussion table on the twenty years of life of the exhibition, with personalities from the insular scene who helped create and maintain this cinematographic event.
