Researchers around the world are trying to develop a vaccine to Covid-19 as quickly as possible. But while nearly 130 potential vaccines are currently in trial phase, it could be that none of them prevents them from catching the virus, reported Bloomberg Monday, June 15.
Given the magnitude of the economic catastrophe caused by the health crisis, scientists could create in a first time a vaccine that will limit the development of the virus in the body, preventing it becoming too serious, but who will immunize not vaccinated against the virus.
” It is likely that a vaccine that protects only the severe forms of the disease is very useful , “says Robin Shattock, a professor at the Imperial College of London. The primary objective of researchers is to return to the health situation prior to the pandemic by focusing on the ability of a vaccine to prevent the worsening of the disease, rather than put an end to it.

The World Health Organization (WHO) explains that despite the fact that vaccines save about three million lives per year, very few of them are 100% effective. For example, 3 % of those vaccinated against measles can develop a mild form of the disease and spread it.
Currently, more than 130 vaccines are in phase of development in the face of the Covid-19. England and Germany already conduct clinical trials on human beings. Last Saturday, four european countries have signed an agreement to ensure the provision to the whole of the EU in the hundreds of millions of doses, if a vaccine is discovered.
