More than 28,000 people have died in connection with the Covid-19 in France since March 1. 483 have died in the last 24 hours, according to the report released Sunday May 19 by the Ministry of Health.
This daily check-up is the most important in recent weeks and is mainly due to deaths in nursing homes and other medico-social establishments (+429 compared to Saturday, against +54 in hospital), bringing the total death to 28,108.
Requested by AFP, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) was unable to account for this significant increase, indicating only that all the daily reports proceeded from an “updating of the data transmitted by the ARS (regional health agencies) to Public Health France”, the national health agency.
On the other hand, hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care continue to decline. 2,087 patients with severe form of coronavirus are in intensive care, compared to 2,776 a week ago. 24 new serious cases were admitted there (against 38 a week ago).
