The Charta Politica National Survey Calls the Handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia Better

Merdeka.com – The National Survey on Policy Evaluation and Political Maps in the Pandemic Period by Chartapolitika said the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia was improving.

Related to this, dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi M. Epid, Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Vaccination Ministry of Health, conveyed that the high public trust in the government’s efforts in dealing with the pandemic cannot be separated from the government’s great commitment and support from various elements of society.

“One example of the government’s commitment is to increase testing and tracing efforts. Over the past month, we have seen an increase in testing and tracing from 50 thousand to 200 thousand. All of this was achieved due to the support of all parties such as regional labs that have carried out PCR analysis and antigens,” Nadia said in her statement on Monday.

For information, in March-December 2020, Indonesia was only able to perform 140 whole genome sequencing, genome sequencing. But until now we have almost been able to do up to 4,000 by sequencing.

This is clear evidence of the hard work of all parties consisting of various research laboratories, universities and the private sector in genome sequencing networks and the Ministry of Health really appreciates the support given.

From the results of a survey conducted during the period 12-20 July 2021, as many as 51.4 percent of respondents said that the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia is currently very good and good, while 45.6 percent said it is not good.

Of the total 1,200 respondents, 53.1 percent said they believed the data released by the government regarding Covid-19, while 43.3 percent said they did not believe it.

Vaccination

Talking about handling Covid-19 must be related to the vaccination program that is also run by the government. Still citing data from Charta Politica’s research, 72.4 percent of respondents said they were willing to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, while only 23.9 percent were unwilling, and the rest did not know.

“Of course this is a relief. We have seen that in some areas, people’s enthusiasm for being vaccinated is very high. Although a number of regions also show a low level of vaccination acceptance. The government will continue to strive to increase public acceptance of vaccination, one of which is through education programs. “We have also repeatedly emphasized to the public not to believe in hoaxes. Vaccines have been proven to be effective in preventing the severity and death of the Covid-19 virus,” said Nadia.

A study conducted by the Health Research and Development Agency of the Indonesian Ministry of Health proved that vaccines can reduce the risk of being infected with Covid-19, as well as reduce care and death for health workers. This study was conducted on 71,455 health workers in DKI Jakarta covering nurses, midwives, doctors, technicians, and other general personnel during the January-June 2021 period.

This is in line with data from Public Health England (PHE), the AstraZeneca vaccine, one of the vaccine brands used by the government in the national vaccination program, offers a high level of protection from the delta variant. Two doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, can prevent the risk of hospitalization due to the delta variant by up to 92 percent, and even no death among those vaccinated.

Meanwhile, two complete doses of Sinovac can reduce transmission of Covid-19 by up to 94 percent, prevent 96 percent of hospitalizations and avoid death by up to 98 percent.

PHE also conveyed the results of research related to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The vaccine, which is planned to start next month, will also enter Indonesia, with two doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, 96 percent of which avoid hospitalization without death. This type of vaccine is also claimed to be 88 percent effective against symptomatic Covid-19 caused by the Delta variant two weeks after the second dose.

The government continues to work hard to bring in vaccines to accelerate the implementation of the national vaccination program. In August, Indonesia will receive 70 million doses of vaccine. Vaccine stocks in the regions can reach 80 million doses, so it is hoped that 2 million vaccines in August can be achieved.

“What needs to be remembered is that vaccines train our immune system so that troops are ready and quickly fight the Covid-19 virus in our bodies. The potential for infection will still exist. So the easing of social restrictions must be replaced with 3M health protocol discipline (maintaining distance, wearing masks, and washing hands) in the face of the virus and the new variant of Covid-19,” said Nadia.

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) said the number of patients who had been declared cured of Covid-19 on Monday had increased by 29,925 patients.

From these data, West Java became the area with the most recovered patients, with 4,157 patients, followed by Central Java with 4,115 patients.

East Java occupies the third position with the number of recovered patients as many as 3,784 patients. While the fourth position is occupied by East Kalimantan with a total of 1,892 patients.

The fifth position is occupied by Riau with the number of recovered patients as many as 1,684 patients. The number of specimens that have been examined on Monday is 129,010 specimens. As quoted by Antara. [rhm]
