The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, following the new indicators included in the COVID-19 Surveillance and Control Strategy, agreed by the Ministry of Health with the autonomous communities, reports that since the last update of the data last Tuesday there are 339 new positives in COVID-19 have been recorded in the archipelago among people over the age of 60, which is the population group that is followed after passing the acute phase of the pandemic.
Thus, the accumulated number of coronavirus cases in this group amounts to 98,675 people in the Canary Islands. Therefore, the Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 222.69 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 116.09.
Currently in the Archipelago there are 81 people hospitalized for coronavirus, of which you are in intensive care and the remaining, 75, in the ward. In the last three days, however, the death of a 79-year-old person was recorded in Tenerife. He had previous medical conditions and was hospitalized.
Sanitary capacity
The Ministry of Health informs that since last August 12, and in compliance with the Resolution of August 5 of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, in the calculation of the beds occupied by patients affected by covid-19, account is taken of taking into account the number of beds occupied by patients with pneumonia or acute respiratory infection or other pathology considered attributable to a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
