THE BALL – Tondela draws in Mafra, but goes to Jamor (see summary) (Portuguese Cup)

Tondela is in the final of the Portuguese Cup for the first time. Nuno Campos’ team confirmed qualification, after a draw (1-1) in Mafra, against a team from Liga 2 that was not happy, despite having the mission to cancel a three-goal disadvantage (0-3) brought 1st hand.

In the first half, the beirões controlled the operations and were the first to be close to scoring. During this period, Miguel Santos, goalkeeper of the locals, was on the attack, nullifying three threats with the signatures of Salvador Agra and Dadashov.

On the other side, Niasse still blocked Pedro Lucas at mid-range, but he was unable to prevent the opening goal of the show (45′), by Pedro Pacheco: following a corner hit by Cann, the center rose in the area and gave hope to the Mafren cause.

Hope that increased even more at the start of the second half: in six minutes, three clear opportunities to extend the lead, including… a penalty. From the 11-meter mark, Pedro Lucas lost the duel with Niasse, who guessed the side of the shot and kept the minimum difference.

The game trend continued, with danger continuing to have the house mark. If Cann took paint from the post, Gui Ferreira hit him hard, driving the stands to despair. As they were close to the final whistle again, when Niasse saved a violent header from Pedro Lucas for a corner.

On the counterattack, and in the first moment of approaching the opponent’s area, the Tondelans closed the game and the tie. Javier Avilés held up the pressure on the left and offered the goal to Boselli, who limited himself to directing the ball towards the goal (89′).
