Tesla, the renowned car company, paid a California bakery $2,000 to compensate for a canceled pie order, following the intervention of the company’s billionaire CEO, Elon Musk.

The bakery, known as The Giving Pies, experienced a surge in business after the incident garnered media attention. The Guardian reported that Tesla ultimately settled the outstanding bill on Monday.

The initial order from Tesla was for 2,000 mini pies, but it was later doubled. Unfortunately, a representative from Tesla canceled the order at the last minute. The business owner expressed disappointment in a Facebook post last week, citing Tesla’s prioritization of convenience over accountability.

Elon Musk became aware of the situation through media coverage and promptly pledged to rectify it. In a recent X post, Musk expressed his willingness to address the issue and ensure that the bakery was compensated appropriately. Consequently, Tesla paid the $2,000 bill, covering the cost of the purchased ingredients for the order, as reported by KGO.

Voahangy Rasetarinera, the owner of The Giving Pies, expressed her gratitude for the payment in an email to The Guardian. Meanwhile, she mentioned that $2,000 may be marginal for a large corporation like Tesla but means a lot to small business owners like herself.

Since the incident, The Giving Pies witnessed a significant influx of customers showing support, leading to a considerable boost in business. NBC Bay Area reported that hundreds of patrons flocked to the bakery to order pies. Rasetarinera was overwhelmed by the overwhelming response and expressed her gratitude.

Despite Tesla offering a new catering project in March for a women’s day celebration, Rasetarinera declined the offer due to a shortage in crust caused by the surge in new orders.

Tesla’s proactive response to this pie order cancellation showcases the company’s commitment to maintain accountability and prioritize business ethics.
