-We met Werner Maurus, the owner and founder of the MPU Academy Augsburg https://mpuakademie.de met him and asked him some questions.

How long has the MPU existed in Germany?
Maurus: The MPU has existed in Germany since 1954 and has not lost its horror to this day. The medical-psychological examination is commonly referred to as an idiot test and it does not have a good reputation among the population.

What makes it so difficult to pass an MPU?
Maurus: Many of those affected are not at all aware of what is in store for them. Many actually underestimate the assessment and are of the opinion: “I can do it, I’m halfway intelligent”. However, the MPU has little to do with the test person’s level of intelligence, but rather with their ability to reflect and their awareness of change.

how does it look in action?
Maurus: We receive a lot of inquiries from those affected who did not make it through their MPU because they either did not prepare or tried to prepare on their own. The MPU is not really taken seriously, and therefore savings are made in the wrong place. That boomerang comes back, of course. The MPU must now be carried out a second time, there is no discount for this. The whole procedure has to be run through again, so the entire costs are incurred again. In addition, the costs of preparation by one of our professionals are added. In addition, of course, time is lost for the client, because it makes no sense to arrange a new appointment for the assessment immediately.

In your opinion, how should an affected person behave?
Maurus: In principle, it’s relatively simple. Look, when you’re sick, you go to a specialist. If you need legal help, you go to a specialist lawyer. So if an MPU is ordered, you should also get help from the specialist advisor. A professional is able to recognize relatively quickly where the problem lies and how the person affected can be helped.

Then why don’t people come to you right away?
Maurus: There are always people who practically treat themselves, advise themselves or look for an individual solution on the Internet. In very few cases this is crowned with success. The subsequent disappointment is always very great.

What is your tip for those affected?
Maurus: As soon as someone receives the order for the MPU, they should contact a professional immediately. In no case should the MPU be taken lightly. Tips from the Internet are very often useless and of no help. Just talking to an MPU advisor makes sense. It doesn’t necessarily have to be one of our consultants, there are also capable competitors on the market. However, the person concerned should look carefully into whose hands he is putting himself.

What do you mean by your last sentence?
Maurus: Stay away from consultants who make promises or give guarantees. Also stay away if your gut feeling is wrong. Stay away if the consultant immediately requests an appointment to sign the contract. A good consultant will always listen to the facts first so that he can get an idea. A good consultant always gives the client time to think and does not push them.

You are very successful with your academy, where does that come from?
Maurus: We’re doing something pretty right. Our clients always feel at home with us and recommend us to others. We now have over 160 locations in Germany for MPU advice and preparation. We always focus on the client. Sometimes we help without us charging the entire fee.
