PSV too Expand Philips Stadium to 45,000 Capacity by 2027
Eindhoven, Netherlands – PSV Eindhoven has received the green light to begin planning an expansion of the Philips Stadium, aiming to increase capacity to at least 45,000 seats by 2027. The club, currently at its commercial capacity, initiated feasibility studies a year and a half ago to address growing demand fueled by the region’s rapid expansion.
The expansion will primarily focus on the north and east sides of the stadium, with PSV also investigating the potential to add seats to the remaining sides. Currently, twenty thousand individuals are on a waiting list for season tickets, underscoring the need for increased capacity. The club intends to self-fund the project, having resolute – through research conducted by Hypercube in April 2024 – that the current stadium location remains optimal for realizing these ambitions. The municipality of Eindhoven has expressed enthusiastic support for the plan, which will bring the Philips Stadium closer in size to the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam (56,000 seats) and De Kuip in Rotterdam (47,500 seats).
