Suspect Strangles, Rapes Brooklyn Woman After She Refused to Have Sex – NBC New York

Authorities are looking for the man suspected of strangling a woman unconscious and then raping her inside a downtown Brooklyn apartment last week.

The New York City Police said the alleged rapist, who knew the victim, entered the building with her on Friday, April 22, at about 3:00 am, on Monument Walk (NYCHA’s Ingersoll Houses). Once inside her, the suspect asked her for sex, which she refused, authorities added.

At that moment, the man allegedly began to suffocate the woman until she was unconscious, the uniformed officer said. When the victim woke up, the suspect was raping her, according to New York City Police.

Police added that after the assault the suspect stole $600 in cash and a cell phone from her and fled.

Paramedics transported the woman to a hospital where she was treated for bruises and scratches to her neck, police said.

The victim’s relationship to the suspect or how they knew each other was not released.

Police said the suspected attacker is 27 years old, was last seen wearing a light green jacket and blue pajama bottoms, and goes by the name “Todd.”

The investigation is ongoing.
