Study: Criticism of savings bank investments

Professor Ralf Jasny teaches business administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt am Main. As a finance scientist, he examined how savings banks handle customer funds for a study. on For more than 100 pages, Jasny comes to the conclusion that the current turbulence on the stock market could put some savings banks in serious trouble: “There are some savings banks in Germany that don’t invest their customers’ money in loans, i.e. in customer loans as it is actually from provided for by the savings bank laws, but a lot in fixed-interest securities and bonds or in shares and other securities. That means, in capital market products. And not just with a few euros, but some institutions relatively much of it.”
