New York Mayor Bill de Blasio highlighted the work of public servants and the efforts of essential workers during the pandemic.

He pointed out that despite the limitations of the municipal budget, resources have been so well administered that no activity of the municipal government has been stopped.

De Blasio presented the appointment of Melanie Herzog, as the new Deputy Mayor of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Similarly, Jacques Jiha will join the municipal cabinet as director of the Budget Office.

Regarding the health crisis, the Mayor indicated that there is still a downward trend in the numbers within the health fence.

He ordered the neighbors to continue working together to achieve the proposed goals to reverse the rate of infections.

He reiterated that the goal is to stop a second wave of the coronavirus in New York City.

As for the new indicators used to measure progress in the fight against coronavirus, the most recent data showed:

  • Number of positive cases admitted to hospitals: 76 (16%)
  • Covid-19 reported cases, 7-day average: 471
  • Daily percentage of patients who tested positive: 2.17%
  • Percentage of patients who tested positive, 7-day average: 1.62%
