Slow Police Investigate Teenage Rape and Trafficking of Children of Bekasi DPRD Members Page all

BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – It’s been more than a month as the suspected case rape teenager by AT (21), son of a member of the Bekasi City DPRD, hanging, since he was reported to the Bekasi City Metro Police on April 12, 2021.

More than a month has passed, AT has not even been investigated by the police nor has he been named a suspect.

The head of the Bekasi City Regional Child Protection Commission, Novrian, has urged the police to immediately arrest AT.

“Because we are worried that the perpetrator is not in Bekasi. Because the prosecution took too long,” said Novrian, 26 April 2021.

The police claim that AT has not been detained, or has not been investigated or named a suspect, because he was absent from two summons.

In fact, the police had the authority to forcibly pick him up if that was the case.

Moreover, this case is not a trivial case at all. AT, apart from being accused of molesting the victim, is also suspected of committing the crime of trafficking in persons / minors.

The indication of trafficking of minors for prostitution began when the victim was asked to work by AT.

However, the job offered by the victim never existed. AT told the victim that the job was already filled by someone else.

The victim was also sold to a masher through the social media account MiChat, which is operated by AT using a photo of the victim.

During that time, the victim was asked to serve the masher who was charged Rp. 400,000 by AT.

The victim was held at a boarding house, forced to serve guests five times a day and the tariff was held by AT.

The victim suffered from venereal disease as a result of this exploitation, so he had to undergo surgery.

Chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection (PA), Arist Merdeka Sirait, considered this case an extraordinary crime.

“That is a minimum of 10 years, a maximum of 20 years and a life sentence and even death penalty can be added. If this is proven and the law is clear,” Arist said on April 27, 2021.

“This includes extraordinary crime, extraordinary crimes, it is necessary to have strong evidence so as to catch the perpetrators and arrest them as soon as possible, “he continued.

Father is ready to open and open

The evidence and information in this case is not insufficient, so that AT has not been arrested. The slow handling of the case made the victim’s father, D (43) angry.

“I myself have a question mark on the performance of the police. Indeed, from the start the police have said this is quite strong in the report and is also complete,” said D to reporters, Tuesday (18/5/2021).

“There are 5 witnesses that we have given. If indeed the Bekasi City Metro Police still (feel) lacking witnesses, I will give them back. If you say it is not enough, the investigator said no, because the report is already strong,” he explained.

“I myself am confused, what was lacking than I tried? I have already provided everything from the report letter, the victim’s statement, the testimony of the witnesses, the post mortem evidence, I have submitted clothing evidence,” said D again.

D admitted that he was ready to give up to 10 witnesses though. He has warned the police to immediately summon and arrest AT.

If not immediately, according to him, AT has the potential to run away.

“If it’s like this it becomes a dilemma on the part of the victim and a big question mark to the police. It has been proven that the perpetrator is not in place until now,” he added.

Head of the Special Protection Section for the Children of the Bekasi City Women Empowerment and Child Protection Service, Mini, who monitors and accompanies the victim, also spoke about the dark progress of the police investigation.

“At the end of April, I asked for news, was answered, ‘Yes, ma’am, ready, will be informed later.’ But, until now I have not been informed,” said Mini to Kompas.com, Tuesday.

D admitted that he was very disappointed.

“If yesterday was a little disappointed because of the slow handling of the police, for now it is extremely disappointed to the police, the Bekasi City Metro Police,” he said.

“This is a mockery of the reporting process and the process is still hanging up at this point.”

D even warned that he was ready to “go ahead of the police” if the case was kept hanging like this.

“What will you see in the future, whether I am blow up the photo of the perpetrator and who was the family who hid the perpetrator? “he said.

“I will open it all up. Let the community know this truth and justice for whom,” added D.
