Slack is working on integration with Microsoft Teams video calling services | NOW

The CEO of business chat app Slack, Stewart Butterfield, said in an interview with analysts that Slack is working to integrate the calling services of competitor Microsoft Teams, writes CNBC Friday. The integration would allow users of both services to call each other.

The two chat services Slack and Microsoft Teams are big competitors. In addition to chatting, the software also allows employees to make video calls with their colleagues and exchange files.

Slack already works with other Microsoft services, such as OneDrive, Outlook and SharePoint, but used publicly available APIs from Microsoft. Therefore, no close cooperation took place between the two companies.

It is not clear when the integration will appear in Slack or what exactly it will entail. Both companies wanted to do this CNBC do not respond directly.

The two chat services are widely used by home workers, both services have seen the number of users increase from working from home in recent weeks. Last week, Teams was used by a record 44 million people in one day.
