Schwarzenegger auction: 900,000 euros for climate protection

Complete success for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first charity dinner in Kitzbühel.

Kitzbühel (OTS) “Don’t listen to the pessimists,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger to his guests at the first charity dinner for climate protection in Kitzbühel. And he explained: “Last year people told me that another event in Kitzbühel would not work – that there were already too many parties and that we didn’t need another fundraiser. And today we’re completely sold out and we’re collecting a fortune for a great cause. But I always say there is no “self-made man”. Without our fantastic team and without you all who bought tickets, we couldn’t have done it. Many thanks to all of you who made this evening a success. “

Even if the occasion was a very serious one, this did not detract from the entertainment value of the charity event: the 150 guests – including celebrities such as sports legends Franz Klammer, Lindsey Vonn, Hans Knauß and Lothar Matthäus, Hansi Hinterseer, model Barbara Meier with husband Klemens Hallmann , Rene and Nathalie Benko – an extraordinary and entertaining program as well as traditional Austrian cuisine was offered. The auction, through which the famous auctioneer Simon de Pury led with humor, wit and emphasis and skillfully and elegantly raised one or the other auction sum, was very entertaining. Works of art, props from Schwarzenegger films, jewelry and exclusive activities came under the hammer. Particularly coveted auction items were, for example, a training session with Arnold himself, a signed leather jacket from the film Terminator 2 or a self-portrait by Silvester Stallone. The American comedian, actor and television presenter Matt Iseman led the evening, which was also top-class thanks to the two supporters, VisionOne and Audemars Piguet.

The 900,000 euros go to the “Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative”, which among other things worldwide supports climate projects such as the “Green Lung of Uganda” by the Jane Goodall Institute or “Solar Skills and Environmental Education” in Ethiopia by “Youth One World” and organizes the annual international climate conference AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT in Vienna. , Monika Langthaler, director of the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative: “We are so grateful for every euro we received tonight to support our efforts. We are overwhelmed by the amount and grateful for the generous donations. ”Apparently the bidders in Kitzbühel wanted to be part of the“ Climate Action ”that evening.
