The trial in the Dudnikov case was closed

Yegor Dudnikov voiced videos for the Belarusian opposition and hosted the Telegram channel of the Civil Self-Defense Detachments of Belarus.

A court in Minsk sentenced 21-year-old Russian citizen Yegor Dudnikov to 11 years in prison. This is exactly the time the prosecutor asked for him, informs Human Rights Center Spring on Monday, 27 December.

It is known that Dudnikov voiced videos for the Belarusian opposition and hosted the Telegram channel of the Civil Self-Defense Detachments of Belarus, which the authorities recognized as terrorist.

“The trial in the case was closed and lasted for a week, so what exactly Dudnikov was accused of is known only from the materials of the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus, which were posted in open sources,” the statement says.

Dudnikov is charged with inciting hatred (part 3 of article 130 of the Criminal Code of Belarus) and calls to harm national security (part 3 of article 361 of the Criminal Code of Belarus). He was sentenced to almost the maximum possible punishment under these articles.

Dudnikov lived in Minsk and was engaged in dubbing cartoons and commercials. He was detained on May 5, and since then he has been in the pre-trial detention center of the KGB of Belarus.

Let us remind you that on December 22 in Belarus seven people were detained on charges of attempting to commit acts of terrorism. This was stated by Alexander Lukashenko.
