Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced the closure of the border with Belarus for the movement of people against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. In Russia, more than 60 cases of coronavirus infection have been identified. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus has not yet received official notifications from the Russian side about the closure of the border.
“We also decided to close the border with Belarus to move people, took a number of other proactive steps. We will continue to do everything possible to protect our country from this new threat, to act proactively and take comprehensive measures to prevent, first of all, the mass spread of coronavirus, ”Mr. Mishustin said at an operational meeting (quote from TASS).
This decision was one of the measures to combat the coronavirus and its consequences, voiced by the White House Coordinating Council, headed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on Monday.
In the world, the number of COVID-19 infected with coronavirus exceeded 169 thousand people in 146 countries, more than 6.5 thousand people died, more than 77 thousand were cured. More than 60 people were infected in Russia. Since March 15, because of the coronavirus, Russia has closed the land border with Poland and Norway.
