The incident took place on August 21. The police tried to detain 31-year-old Traford Pellerin and shot him in the back. The man later died in hospital.
During the night, protests began in the city, which then escalated into clashes with the police. Law enforcement agencies used smoke bombs, and protesters blew up firecrackers and burned tires. Several people were detained during the protests.
