-title New Hampshire Cold Case Solved: Killer Identified After 50 Years

by David Harrison – Chief Editor November 26, 2025
written by David Harrison – Chief Editor

Half ⁣a Century Later, New Hampshire⁤ Cold Case⁣ Identifies⁤ Ernest ⁤Gable as Judith Lord‘s Killer

After nearly five decades, the 1975 murder of Judith Lord in Concord, New hampshire, has been solved, with investigators identifying her neighbor, Ernest ‍Gable, as the perpetrator. Though Gable died in 1987, authorities announced they would have charged him with First Degree Murder had he still been alive.

Judith Lord, along with her husband Gregory and their son, moved into the Concord Gardens apartment complex just three⁤ months before‍ her ⁢death, returning from a period where Gregory was stationed in ‌Germany. The couple’s relationship ‌quickly deteriorated, ⁤culminating⁤ in an assault⁣ by Gregory Lord on May ⁤4, 1975. He pleaded guilty to simple assault and was fined $100,subsequently moving‍ out of the apartment, taking nearly all their possessions with him, leaving judith, their son,a bed,and a ⁢crib.

Despite ⁢being initially considered a suspect, Gregory Lord was cleared‌ after his alibi was corroborated by his brother and grandmother. ⁢Judith Lord resigned ⁤from her job at a nearby ‌nursing home following the assault ⁤and found herself financially vulnerable.‌ She cashed her final‍ paycheck ‌the day before her murder and spent the evening socializing with neighbors.

According to testimony, Judith Lord had⁢ expressed fear of both ‌her husband and⁤ Ernest Gable for some time, due to Gable’s “persistent and unwanted ⁢advances.” ⁣She confided ‌in ⁢her⁣ sister that Gable ⁢”had made ⁤remarks to her about wanting to see her nude.” Witnesses later came forward detailing disturbing interactions,⁤ including‍ an incident where Gable knocked ⁣on her door at 2 a.m. while his wife was away, asking‍ if she “wanted to party with him.” One⁣ coworker recalled Lord saying Gable was “always bothering⁣ her and hanging around her doors and windows.”

On the night ⁢of may 20, 1975, Gable’s wife reported hearing Judith Lord in the shower⁤ shortly before midnight. around 12:50 a.m., neighbors reported hearing screaming from Lord’s apartment, followed by sounds believed to be intercourse.

Evidence collected at the scene,⁣ including‍ a purple and a damp white towel, contained DNA evidence. While the case remained unsolved for decades, advancements in⁢ forensic technology allowed investigators to link Gable⁢ to the crime.

Attorney General John ‍Formella stated‍ that if alive today, Gable‌ would have been charged with First degree Murder for knowingly causing Lord’s death during aggravated felonious sexual assault, and for purposely causing her death by strangulation.

“It is my hope that this long-awaited conclusion will finally⁢ bring peace and closure to Judy Lord’s family and the entire Concord ‍community after nearly five ⁢decades of delayed justice,” Formella said. “This⁢ resolution proves that ⁤no cold case is ever truly closed until the truth is found.”

Indiana Man Released on $25,000 Bail in Shooting ‍Death of Guatemalan house ‍Cleaner

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. – A central Indiana man ⁣accused of fatally⁤ shooting ⁢a Guatemalan house‍ cleaner who mistakenly went to his home has ‌been ⁣released on $25,000 bail. ⁤Judge Matthew Kincaid set the⁤ bail ⁢amount‍ for Andrew Andersen on Friday and ordered him to surrender his passport, with a jury⁣ trial scheduled to begin March 30, according to⁢ court records.

The shooting occurred‌ when Maria Ríos, 37, and her husband were at ⁢Andersen’s residence by⁤ mistake as ‍part of a house cleaning crew. They ‌were attempting to open the⁢ door with a key provided ‌by their ‌company when andersen allegedly fired a ‍shot through the door, striking Ríos ‍in the head.‍ Her⁢ husband was unharmed. Andersen told investigators he believed someone was attempting to break into his home.

Prosecutors had ‍requested a $50,000 bond with house arrest as a condition of release, but⁣ Judge Kincaid set the lower bail amount. Alexander Limontes, an⁤ attorney representing Ríos’ family, criticized the decision in a statement. “Maria‍ was a hard-working mother and wife who was there for her family, friends and community every day,” Limontes said. “He ‍was simply doing his job. For his family, today’s bail hearing‍ is another painful reminder of the loss they suffered and the long road to justice ahead of them.”

Ríos is survived by four children. Her family planned to⁣ return her body to Guatemala⁢ on‍ Saturday, with a‌ funeral scheduled for Sunday in ‍Cabricán.

The‌ case is expected to center on ⁤Indiana’s self-defense law, which permits the use of deadly ⁤force when individuals reasonably believe they are protecting themselves from⁤ unlawful⁤ entry into their ⁢homes. Police⁢ have stated there ⁤is no evidence Ríos entered the home before she was shot.

Andrew Andersen’s attorney, Guy Relford, has maintained his client acted‍ in self-defense but‍ has not provided further public comment. Boone County Prosecutor Kent Eastwood declined to comment on the ‌case.

Hundreds‍ of⁣ Cremated Remains Recovered from‌ Nevada Desert

SEARCHLIGHT, Nev. – Crews have recovered approximately⁤ 315 piles of cremated human remains from⁢ a desolate stretch of land outside Searchlight, Nevada,⁣ officials confirmed‌ this‍ week. the revelation, ⁢initially reported by KLAS, prompted an examination by the U.S. Bureau‍ of Land Management (BLM) and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department ‌(LVMPD).

The remains, described as “pulverized⁣ bone fragments” or “cremains,” ⁣were first identified by BLM⁤ officials in August. they were found spread ⁣across BLM-managed land.

Palm Mortuaries⁢ and Cemeteries took ⁢responsibility for removing the remains on ‌Wednesday, transferring‌ them to a cemetery crypt.‍ “I think it’s critically important to ⁤us to make sure that these ⁢people are not forgotten and not‍ left,”‌ said Celena DiLullo, president of Palm Mortuaries and Cemeteries, in a⁤ statement to KLAS. “It’s important to our community and our profession that we demonstrate how much we care ⁣about these ⁣people.”

While scattering cremated ⁤remains on public land is permitted under Nevada law, ⁤BLM regulations prohibit the ⁤commercial distribution of cremated remains on federal land.

The origins of the ‍remains remain unclear. Early reports suggested‍ potential involvement⁤ from a‌ commercial funeral home business, but authorities have not‍ yet ⁢identified any⁢ suspects‌ or confirmed a connection to ⁣a specific mortuary.

The BLM and LVMPD are ⁣continuing ⁤to investigate. Palm Mortuaries and Cemeteries,⁢ BLM, and LVMPD did not ‌immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Discovery of Bodies in Houston Bayous Sparks Serial Killer Fears

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 28, 2025
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Rising Bayou Deaths in Houston ⁣Spark Concern, Investigation

Houston authorities are investigating the finding of 24 bodies found in the city’s bayous so far this year, prompting fears and calls for greater openness. The deaths, occurring within the fifth most populous metropolitan ‍area in the United States, have fueled speculation, though police currently maintain there is no evidence linking the cases.

The bodies recovered as of the end of September represent a notable number of fatalities in the city’s waterways. Of those, demographic details is available for 19 individuals: nine were African American, six were white,‌ and three were Hispanic.the age range of the deceased spans from ⁤14 to 69 years old, with the vast majority being men.

Determining the cause of death has proven difficult. Authorities have only been able to ascertain the cause for six of the 22 deaths recorded up to the end of September: four ⁤were due to drowning, one was a suicide, and one was attributed to “cardiac death.” To date, none have been classified as homicides.

Jay Coons, a professor of criminal justice at Sam Houston State University, explained the challenges of investigating deaths in the water ‍to local⁣ media.”Bodies decompose⁤ quickly in the heat and humidity of Houston. Unless there is obvious trauma, such as gunshots, stabbing or strangulation, it is difficult to determine the cause,” ‍he said, adding that evidence is often lost without visible injuries.

possible ⁣causes being considered by authorities include the vulnerability of the homeless population, as suggested by Mayor Whitmire. “Unfortunately, when⁢ the homeless die, they often end up in the bayou,” he stated. Other theories point ⁢to potential factors such as toxic substance abuse, mental health issues, and the inherent dangers ⁣of the bayous themselves, which collectively stretch approximately 2,500 miles throughout the metropolitan area.

Concerns over the lack of information and perceived inaction ⁢prompted Councilwomen Letitia Plummer and Carolyn Evans-Shabazz to hold a press conference on September 30th, demanding greater transparency. “We don’t want assumptions,” Plummer said. “This community wants to know what is happening, what is ⁢being done, and ensure ⁤that we are given factual information in‍ a timely manner as there⁢ are a lot of⁤ concerns.”⁢ Plummer also criticized the mayor for “causing more confusion” with his theory regarding the homeless.

The families of the deceased are also seeking answers. Kenneth Cutting Sr., whose 22-year-old son was found in Buffalo Bayou last year, expressed frustration⁤ with the medical examiner’s “undetermined” cause of‌ death. “I don’t know if⁣ there is a serial killer,⁢ but the way they are handling these bodies is ⁤ridiculous,” Cutting told‍ local press. Xzaviere Chatman, sister of another deceased individual, stated simply, “something has to be done.”

Currently, authorities are compiling a thorough list of those found dead in the city’s canals. Several homicide detectives are collaborating⁤ with the department’s records division to gather information. Police spokesperson Jodi Silva recently reiterated that ‌no connections have been established between the cases. “There is nothing that⁣ links them, and we warn people to be careful when they are around the bayous. Do not enter the water bayou. It has fast currents, it has branches under the water in which you can get stuck,” she said.

While some municipal councilors have proposed forming a special working ‍group to address the issue, authorities‌ remain cautious about implementing additional⁣ security measures, given⁣ the lack of evidence of violence in many of⁢ the cases. Mayor Whitmire acknowledged that there⁤ is no “foolproof” measure to prevent all deaths.
