PSV booked a fourth victory in the last five games (0-1) on Sunday at FC Groningen, but the Eindhoven team acknowledged afterwards that the game was not good at Hitachi Capital Mobility Stadium.
“It was really bad, especially in the second half”, said Jorrit Hendrix with a faint smile FOX Sports. “So there is work to be done, but I am also relieved and happy, because the result is sacred. Especially when you consider where we come from.”
The midfielder assisted in the sixteenth minute at the only goal of the game, made by Denzel Dumfries. The captain also saw that the PSV game fell to a dubious level, certainly after the break.
“The second half was dramatic,” Dumfries told FOX Sports. “We walked backwards, no longer played our own game and no longer showed discipline. That made it very difficult for ourselves. We should have just continued as in the first half.”
FC Groningen had 57 percent of the ball during the game and also scored more shots on goal than the visitors from Brabant (thirteen to seven). Goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall saved PSV from losing points in the second half with good saves on shots by Mo El Hankouri, Ajdin Hrustic and Ahmed El Messaoudi.
“We must be happy that Lars did well, because he makes sure that we take three points here,” said trainer Ernest Faber. “Our first half was still okay, the second half was very bad. Anyway, thirteen points from the last five games is fine.”
