BDuring the protests in the US city of Minneapolis, a team of journalists from the news channel CNN was arrested during a live broadcast. Police officers arrested correspondent Omar Jimenez, then his colleagues, after rioting on Friday. The police said a few hours later that the three CNN employees had been released after it was confirmed that they were media representatives. There were originally four arrests.
The live recording showed Jimenez repeatedly asking the approaching police if the team should change location. “We can go back wherever you want. We’re live right now, ”said Jimenez, who is black. He clearly identified himself as a CNN reporter. Shortly thereafter, Jimenez was arrested without reason, and then his team. “We are all from CNN,” someone said to the police again.

“Can you please tell me why I’m being arrested?” Jimenez asks the police. “Why am I being arrested, sir?” There is no answer. When the team’s cameraman is also led away, he puts his camera on the floor – which continues to broadcast live.
The broadcaster’s website said a white CNN colleague, Josh Campbell, who was with another team in the area, was treated respectfully by the police and was not arrested.
