(CNN Español) — The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office reported that this Sunday morning a hearing was held to press charges against 12 of the 19 suspects who were arrested for allegedly being linked to this Friday’s attack on the Secretary of Security. Local citizen, Omar García Harfuch, who was injured and where three people were also recorded dead and five injured.
The hearing was requested by the Prosecutor’s Office to charge detainees with the crimes of homicide, attempted murder and carrying a firearm for the exclusive use of the armed forces, in this high-profile case allegedly related to organized crime.
“The judge in charge of the Accusatory Criminal Justice System granted the hearing so that, during the early hours of this Sunday, 12 men were transferred to be placed at the disposal of the jurisdictional authority, who will determine their legal situation,” he indicated. the Prosecutor’s Office in a statement.
The agency clarified that it presumes the innocence of these people “as long as their responsibility is not declared by sentence.”
The document does not report what time the hearing ended or where the suspects were subsequently transferred.
In another statement, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported that “he transferred this Sunday afternoon, to his confinement and made available to a control judge, three men and two more women, including a person possibly related to the intellectual authorship of the attack” .
The Public Ministry did not mention the crimes under investigation related to these five suspects, who were detained in the Tláhuac city hall, where it added that “substances with drug characteristics as well as various firearms were secured.”
Until now, it is unknown whether the alleged suspects have defense attorneys. Nor has it been reported what will happen to the remaining two people who were detained after the attack.
The Prosecutor’s Office did not answer a request for more information sent this Sunday by CNN.
García Harfuch attributed the armed attack to the Jalisco Nueva Generación cartel. This attack shocked the country this week, which for this and other matters was described as “difficult” by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
