Prince Albert and Princess Charlene Address Divorce Rumors in Monaco

“I would like to officially deny the malicious rumors spread by the French magazine “Royauté”. Please disregard this article, which is completely unfounded,” a palace representative said on behalf of the royal couple.

Former Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock met Prince Albert in 2007 at a swimming event. The couple announced their engagement in 2010. Albert proposed to his chosen one by presenting a ring with a three-carat diamond.

The fabulous wedding of the young couple in July 2011 was the highlight of the royal house of Monaco in many years. Guests included representatives of European royalty, including the then Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward, and Countess Sophie (now the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh). Supermodel Naomi Campbell, fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, singer Shirley Bassey and other celebrities attended the royal wedding.

On December 10, 2014, Albert and Charlene’s twins, Princess Gabriela and Prince Jacques, were born. The children were born at the hospital named after Princess Grace Kelly in Monaco.

Despite being younger than his twin sister, Prince Jacques is the heir to the throne of Monaco, as the crown is primarily passed down to a male descendant.

Jacques and Gabrielle also have a half-sister and a half-brother. Albert has an illegitimate daughter, Jasmine Grace Grimaldi, who was born in 1992. Her mom is real estate agent Tamara Rotolo. The fact that Jasmine is the daughter of Prince Albert was officially announced only in 2006, when the girl was already almost 16 years old. The prince has previously said that he wanted to protect her identity until her daughter becomes an adult.

In May 2005, Albert also confirmed that he is the biological father of Alexander Grimaldi-Coste, born in 2003. His mother is Nicole Coste, a former Air France flight attendant from the West African country of Togo. Neither Jasmine nor Alexandre are among the heirs to the throne of the Kingdom of Monaco, as their parents were not married.
