There are indications that the virus strikes harder if the air quality leaves something to be desired. The AD reports on this. Worldwide examples of corona fireplaces in areas with a lot of air pollution are Wuhan, Northern Italy and in our country that applies to East Brabant.
Political parties in North Brabant have long argued for an extensive analysis of the relationship between increased concentrations of particulate matter and the manifestation of corona in the province. In other countries such as the United States and Denmark, such connections are now being made and further investigated.
International network
The possible research in which RIVM will participate is an initiative of a large international research network. The aim is for researchers from a large number of countries to try to explain the influence of air quality on corona infections, mainly on the basis of statistics, and to try to explain the differences per country.
