pollution episode in progress, speed lowered on the roads

The heat hit again.

This Sunday afternoon, the prefect of the Rhône activated the level of information and recommendation because an episode of pollution of the summer type polluting O3 declared itself on the territory of the Metropolis of Lyon.

In order to fight against this pollution and especially not to aggravate it, motorists have new instructions: it is recommended to lower their speed by 20 km/h on lanes for which the authorized speed is greater than or equal to 90 km /h. The axes whose authorized speed is equal to 80 km/h are limited to 70 km/h.

The prefecture encourages the inhabitants of the Lyon conurbation to “use modes of transport that limit pollutant emissions as much as possible: bicycles, public transport, carpooling, etc.”

Will these measures be sufficient when Météo France has just placed the Rhône on heatwave orange vigilance and temperatures approaching 40°C are expected for Monday and Tuesday?

Sensitive people are invited to restrict their outdoor movements as well as any excessively physical activity.
