Sitalsing is done with it. “It is the first time that police officers, and not the least of them, say that they no longer feel like doing the work this way.”
Some of the young people who can be seen in the images have been arrested. The majority are still free. If it’s up to Sitalsing, that will soon change. “We investigate the images until other people are arrested. They can count on us working on them throughout the year.”
Fireworks ban
Sitalsing would therefore like a ban on bang fireworks and flares. A large majority of mayors in the province of Utrecht are also in favor of a ban, according to a tour of RTV Utrecht. Of the 26 mayors, 24 are in favor and two against.
“It just has to stop,” says Frits Naafs, mayor of Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The measure is full for him after New Year’s Eve. “It is actually too ridiculous for words that in this municipality I have to go to the police, fire brigade and youth worker for a scenario in September.
