Partnerships for the strengthening of water resources and the treatment of vegetable waters

Seven partnership agreements relating to the strengthening of water resources and the treatment of vegetable waters in the Fez-Meknes region were approved on Wednesday in Fez.

These agreements, validated during the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sebou Hydraulic Basin Agency for the year 2021, concern “prospecting and improving knowledge of groundwater” and the construction of monitoring stations. processing of vegetable waters produced by olive crushing units in the districts of Zerhoun (Meknes) and Ouled Jamaa Lamta (Moulay Yaâcoub) and by those operating in the province of Ouazzane and the commune of Taounate.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, indicated that the year 2021 was marked by the realization, at the level of the region, of many structuring hydraulic projects, including the start impoundment and operation of the Ouljat Sultan dam with a storage capacity of 510 million m3, the continuation of construction work on the M’dez dam in the province of Sefrou (700 million m3), which will irrigation of the Saïss plain and flood protection.

These projects also relate, specifies the government official, to the launch of the construction works of the Sidi Abbou dam in the province of Taounate, with a storage capacity of 200 million m3 with the objective of ensuring the protection of the plain of Gharb against flooding, as well as the supply of drinking and irrigation water and the launch of construction work on the Koudiat El Borna dam in the province of Sidi Kacem, with a storage capacity of 12 million m3. He also mentioned the launch of the construction works of the Ratba dam in the province of Taounate, with a storage capacity of 1 billion m3.

This meeting, which took place notably in the presence of the wali of the region of Fez-Meknes, governor of the prefecture of Fez, Said Zniber, and the president of the region of Fez-Meknes, Abdelouahed El Ansari, was marked by elsewhere, by examining the results of the Agency’s action and the presentation and discussion of its budget and its action program for the year 2022.
