Orders for Tesla electric cars in China fell by 50%

Orders for Tesla’s electric cars in China fell by 50% last month on a monthly basis. This is clear from company data quoted in the media. Tesla’s monthly orders fell from more than 18,000 in April to about 9,800 in May.

Amid the company’s problems last month in China, Tesla withdrew a number of Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles from China, while delaying the delivery of the Model S Plaid until later in June.

Following the news of a halving of orders in China, Tesla shares fell 5 percent.

Tesla recently told the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it was withdrawing an additional 7,696 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles due to seat belt problems. Yesterday, NHTSA revealed that Tesla had withdrawn another batch of 5,974 cars from the same two classes.
