Number of new infections in Drenthe continues to fall: 65

This is evident from the latest figures from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). The number of new infections continues to fall. Yesterday there were 73 new infections, on Sunday that number was 92.

Emmen remains the municipality where the number of new infections is highest (19). In total, the number of infections in Emmen stands at 1,767. In Hoogeveen, the number of new infections is ten and a total of 750.

Nationwide 4,695 new corona cases have been registered. That is almost the same as yesterday, when the RIVM reported 4,701 cases. Initially there were 4,709, but that number has been adjusted today.

The number of deaths increased by 98 in the last 24 hours. That does not mean that all these people died in the past 24 hours. Such information is sometimes passed on with some delay. 40 deaths were reported between Sunday morning and yesterday morning.

The virus is less likely to spread

The coronavirus is spreading more and more slowly. The reproduction rate, which indicates how quickly the virus is circulating, has dropped completely below 1, for the first time since mid-June.

The number now stands at 0.91. That means that 100 infected people infect 91 others, which in turn infect about 83 others. For example, the virus is circulating more slowly and the outbreak can be extinguished. The number is an estimate, but RIVM assumes that the number is between 0.89 and 0.93.
