Opposition denounces irregularities before OAS mission

Twelve opposition parties denounced yesterday before the electoral mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) irregularities executed by the government such as the use of state resources, the purchase of votes and the participation of public officials in proselytizing acts .

Representatives of the 12 political entities met with the Head of the OAS Mission, the former president of Chile Eduardo Frei, at the Marriott Hotel in the capital.

The former deputy expressed the need for the OAS mission to understand that the response of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to opposition parties has not been timid but has ignored the allegations that have been made.

“As is the fact that there has been the denunciation of the bidding carried out by the Social Power of the Presidency Assistance, and that this is typified as a crime by the Electoral Law. However, the president of the JCE only He simply called the Government to prudence, instead of assuming the powers granted by the electoral law, “explained Tavarez Mirabal.

In addition, the political leader said that the opposition suggested to the OAS some measures since they “are not willing to remain silent and remain calm in the event that they persist in trying to ignore the will of the Dominican people.”

The Plenary of the JCE, chaired by Julio César Castaños Guzmán, also received the members of the Electoral Observation Mission for the municipal elections of the OAS, which is headed by Frei.
